我们常说,我们的教育是面向未来的教育,但是未来的社会和世界是什么样子的呢?关于未来,我们唯一确定的就是其不确定性。
但可以确认的是,随着互联网和人工智能技术的到来,我们很多习以为常的职业会逐渐被替代。曾有人预估,当我们的孩子进入社会的时候,当下社会的职业可能会流失30%~40%。当然,这也意味着未来将会有更多新的技能、新的职业和新的领域出现,基于这样的考虑,我们的教育一定是要有前瞻性和创新性的,这也是PIEP为什么会选择IB国际教育课程的原因。
很多来探校的家长都会问的一个问题是:“什么IB?到底IB的探究课程和其他幼儿园的课有什么不同?”,我给大家举一个简单的例子。
上一学期Mini班探究的“共享地球-食物”单元,这些3岁大的孩子们在探究课上跟老师一起了解食物的来源、类别和不同国家的美食,跟小伙伴们分享自己喜欢什么食物,讨厌吃什么食物,再与老师一起探究不同的食物对身体的影响。
表面上,孩子们好像只是在认知新事物,但老师们也在事实基础之上,重复地不停地追问一些更具穿透力的概念性问题——“不同的国家地区,食物种类有什么不同?(形式)”、“我们应不应该多吃健康的食物,减少摄取糖、油炸类的不健康食物?(责任)”。
最后他们形成了新的概念认知——食物的种类有很多,我们要吃健康的、有营养的食物,才能快高长大。好吃的食物可能是营养的,也可能是不健康的。粮食来之不易,我们要珍惜每一粒米饭,不轻易浪费食物。
“积极探究”、“勤于思考”被清楚地界定为IB学习者要具备的品质之一,被定义为:积极主动地以批判性和创造性的方式运用思维技能来识别和处理复杂的问题,并做出理由充分、合乎伦理的决定。而在PIEP,这样的思维锻炼被老师们贯穿于每一个探究单元的学习中。
爱因斯坦所曾说:“教育是当一个人把在学校学到的一切都忘掉之后所剩下的东西。”在我看来,忘记的不过是知识体系的枝叶,而“剩下的东西”才是最重要的,是产生、推导知识体系的根,是生发知识的知识。比如,基本的思想、原则和方法;比如,维度、视野和想象……我希望从PIEP走出来的孩子,不仅仅是要适应未来社会,更是要成为能实现自我价值,促进社会的发展的领航者。
作为享誉全球的优质国际化教育,IB不仅能够兼容世界各国的主流教育体系,其顺应知识周期越来越短的时代特点,迭代更新的速度也令人叹服,因此IB教师在“教”之前首先要“学”,不断地学习和更新自己的知识库,拓宽自身的视野。

同时我们也希望老师们继续保持童真有趣的灵魂。因为在IB-PYP幼儿阶段,玩耍是重要的探究方式之一,教师和孩子打成一片,与孩子一起在玩中建立可靠、信任的师生关系,支持孩子在玩中培养、好奇心、创造力、勇于尝试的品质。
我们要关注孩子的身心发展,对于学龄前的儿童来说,一个有安全感、被尊重的和启发式的成长环境将会为他们未来的留下潜移默化的影响。
在IB文件中,“社区”是一个关键字眼。这里的社区不是居委会社区的意思,而是“人们一起生活和工作的共同体”,包括孩子,孩子的家庭成员,学校的教职员工,以及其他在学生的生活中发挥重要作用的成年人。

在新的学期,我们的学习社区迎来新孩子的同时,也加入了很多家长朋友。作为IB幼儿园,PIEP特别重视家长在儿童发展和社区建设中的具体实践。我希望我们家长也可以作为一位终身学习者,在同孩子相处及进行教育时,能够以一种开放的心态去探索,发现孩子并有效地支持到他们。

We often say that education is for the future, but what will the future society and world look like? The only thing we know for sure about the future is its uncertainty.
But it can be confirmed that with the advent of the Internet and artificial intelligence technology, many occupations that we are accustomed to will gradually be replaced. It has been estimated that when our children enter the society, the occupations of the current society may be lost by 30% to 40%. Of course, this also means that there will be more new skills, new occupations and new fields in the future based on this consideration, our education must be forward-looking and innovative, which is why PIEP chooses the IB international education course.
A question that many parents who come to visit the school will ask is What is IB? What is the difference between the IB inquiry course and other kindergarten courses? I will give you a simple example. In the "Share the Earth-Food" unit explored by the Mini class last semester, these 3-year-old children learned about the sources, types of food and the cuisine of different countries with the teacher in the exploration class, and shared with their friends which foods they like, which kinds of food they hate,] and then explore the effects of different foods on the body with the teacher.
On the surface, the children seem to be just recognizing new things, but the teachers are also on a factual basis, repeatedly asking some more penetrating conceptual questions like "What is the difference between various types of foods in different countries and regions? (Form)", "Should we eat more healthy food and reduce the intake of unhealthy food such as sugar and fats?(Responsibility)". Finally, they recognize that there are many types of food, and] that we need to eat healthy and nutritious food in order to grow up quickly. Good food can be nutritious or unhealthy. Food is not easy to come by, we must cherish every grain of rice and not waste food easily.
Inquiry and thinking are clearly defined as two of the qualities of an IB learner. They can be defined as actively applying thinking skills in a critical and creative way to identify and deal with complex problems, and make well-reasoned and ethical decisions. In PIEP, this way of thinking is run through the learning of each unit of inquiry by teachers.
As a world-renowned, high-quality international education, IB is not only compatible with mainstream education systems around the world, but also responds to the increasingly short knowledge cycle, and the speed of iterative updates is also amazing, so IB teachers must "learn" before they "teach",and improve their knowledge base constantly to broaden their own horizons.

I hope that our teachers will have "ambition", which means that you should not only improve yourselves at all times and have the ambition to learn for life, but also have the ambition to provide higher quality education for children.

At the same time, we hope that teachers will continue to maintain their childlike and interesting souls. Because playing is one of the important ways of inquiry in the IB-PYP early childhood stage, teachers mingle with children, build a reliable and trusting teacher-student relationship with them, and support them in developing, curiosity, creativity, and courageous qualities.
We need to focus on the physical and mental development of our children. For kindergarteners, a secure, respectful and inspiring environment to grow up will leave a subtle impact on their future.
In the IB document, "community" is a key word. Community is not a neighborhood community, but rather "a community of people who live and work together," including the child, the child's family members, the school staff, and other adults who play an important role in the student's life.

In the new school year, our learning community welcomes new children as well as many parents and friends. As an IB preschool, PIEP places special emphasis on the specific practices of parents in child development and community building. It is my wish that our parents can also be lifelong learners, exploring with an open mind, discovering our children and supporting them effectively as we accompany and educate them.
